Yesterday two NGO's Vukovar animal welfare group based in Vukovar and  7of 9 animal welfare group based in Osijeck who are part of our network of Croatian rescuers appeared on a national Croatian TV show. During there interview they advocated the benefits of sterilisation, responsible pet ownership and the positive impact our charity has had on Croatian strays.

Many are aware of the vile abuse that goes on in Romania, however what many do not realise is Croatia is exactly the same but without the hundreds of groups helping the animals as Romania now has. Action Aid for Animals have always been pioneers and rather than shy away at the daunting prospect of helping a country on our own, we jumped in feet first determined to make a difference.

Though our charity is only small, we have more animals to try and help and rescue than many of the larger more well known charities in the UK. We are only able to accomplish what we do because of the strong network of rescuers and carers we collaborate with in the country we are focusing upon and the help of our incredible supporters and donators.

We are more optimistic with what can be achieved in Croatia than Romania as the latter has not had time for the rot to sink in yet, the ability for city hall and some others to make a profit from the suffering if the strays. YES it is an animal abusive country, YES the cruelty and horrific treatment of animals is the same, at the same level as Romania, however the realisation of what money can be made from the strays has not happed quite yet. We predict there is a window of approx 2- 3 years to encourage local governments and its citizens into the mindset of sterilisation not slaughter on mass.

We hope that together with yours and others help we can keep that rot at bay and start a positive depletion of strays on the streets by catch , neuter and release programmes, sterilisation voucher projects and so on.

Please continue to support our charity and the NGOs, rescuers and carers we help
